For Emily
Posted by Aimee on August 6, 2008

Awhile back I decided I would knit a shawl for each of my good girlfriends as they got married. Little did I know that would mean three this year alone, but they are absolutely worth it!

Pattern: Lacey Shawl by Plymouth Design Company (Ravelry Link)
Yarn: Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca Silk – 3.5 balls
Needle: Knitpicks Harmony 9
Mods: Emily is very tall and very thin, so I actually dropped one set of repeats across to make this not swallow her. She looks gorgeous in it!

I gave Emily her present that morning when she was getting her hair done – and I was surprised and honored that she wore it to the reception. I had hoped she would love the shawl, I had hoped it would remind her of her wedding and her dress, but her reaction to it was more than I hoped for and as I sit here I am getting a little teary eyed.

Isn’t she just lovely!!!

And because I just can’t resist – Danielle in her pink sweater I knit her, their mom and Emily. If I could pick a family, it would be theirs. I love and adore these ladies and I am lucky to have been included in such a special event.

Wow, Aimee… What a beautiful gift! Such a treasure that she wore it to the reception! All I can say (or think) is WOW. It looks gorgeous on her, and she looks STUNNING in it, too! Bravo. Really… Just wow!
